Only Weekly rentals (except for No 5) available during the months of July and August.Main Lodge and No 7 rent for no less than two nights. Hiking. Fishing. Lake swimming. Stargazing. Whitewater rafting. Camping. Foraging. Birding.The perfect getaway from modern life's hectic pace. All 12 unique cottages have lake views of one of the most stunning lakes in the Adirondack Park, Indian Lake. The prominent view looking to the South reveals nothing man-made, but Forever Wild forest of the Adirondack Forest Preserve. Trails that penetrate this wilderness have trailheads on the lake or nearby. You can rent a small motor boat or canoe from us or a larger boat from the nearby marina to explore the miles of shoreline and numerous islands, some rocky and others forested. Many fishermen stay with us in the spring, but fishing throughout the season is good for northern pike, smallmouth bass, landlocked salmon, lake trout, brook trout, brown trout, perch and other pan fish. The water of Indian Lake is deep and pure.If you bring your own boat you can dock free of charge at one of several docks we maintain on the lake. You can swim at our beach or navigate to some more remote location to swim or picnic. Take your fish pole or binoculars for birding. Also bring your mountain bike for some of the best dirt road biking in the North East.Our cottages can accommodate large parties or small.The largest cottage can accommodate up to 14. Dogs are always welcome. You may wish to rent several cottages for a family reunion or gathering of friends.The cottages are evenly situated for privacy. We will provide you with linens and pleasant conversation. Children will long remember playing on "the big rock".Every kind of hike is within close proximity. A 25 minute hike to the top of Baldface Mountain, directly across Indian Lake will give you a spectacular view of nearly the entire 14 mile length of the lake. You can opt for the more challenging hike up 3,903 foot high Snowy Mountain.. From there you will see the high peaks and miles of unblemished wilderness in every direction. If you're really into hiking and camping you can go overnight back into the wilderness or camp on one of the many state-issued camp sites on the islands of Indian Lake.The famous Adirondack Museum is some 18 miles away in Blue Mountain Lake and the recently opened The Wild Center is located in Tupper Lake. Right next door is The Lake Store where you no doubt will spend considerable time getting information about the area or enjoying a hot fudge sunday at the old-fashioned soda fountain or picking up your groceries. There are Adirondack souvenirs, fishing tackle, clothing and an impressive line of moccasins and other footwear. Maybe someone will come in with a fish to weigh while you're there or you can talk with some of the campers who have come by boat to get their ice and groceries at the store. Indian lake village is only 4 miles to the north but you can drive in any direction to find restaurants and other points of interest. But don't expect heavy traffic or lots of people because you're in the Adirondack Mountains where the pace is slow and the overwhelming beauty of nature reigns.*****All children are counted in number of persons accommodated.Motor boats rent for $25 per day plus gas. Row boats and canoes rent for $15 per day. Weekly rates are $125 and $70 respectively. Left over gas mix is non-refundable.No pets allowed without prior approval. When pets are permitted, the charge is $10.00 per day. Proof of rabies inoculations is necessary. Pets are not allowed on furniture and must be on leash when outside. Owners must ensure sanitary measures. No pets in beach area. Pets WILL NOT BE LEFT IN COTTAGES UNATTENDED.We reserve the right to limit the number of pets on the property at any given time. The cottages are impeccable, and any concerns (which are few), are immediately addressed by the staff. The value cannot be compared to any other vacation--reasonable, and very family friendly. My hat is off to Eris, Darcy and Don for such great accomodations

The Lake Store is a general store located on Route 30 in Sabael, New York.

We cater to the Smith's Cottage residents, travelers, and the surrounding area's residents. Indian Lake's i sland campers can dock their boats or canoes at The Lake Store dock, and take the short trail up to the store for ice, groceries and supplies.

Inside, you'll find a library of Adirondack books, trail maps, greeting cards, outdoor magazines, fishing tackle, night crawlers, moccasins , deli meats, beer and of course ice cream.
